Mother's Day!

So here in the UK it is Mother's Day and I thought I would restart blogging by showing you my Mother's Day card. I did start this post out as one showing you what I had been up to but decided against that when I couldn't decide what to post. If you do want to look I do post photos on my facebook page Paws for Craft.

So this is my Mother's Day Card. It was made using Visible Image Stamps. I first stamped the Bronte Script all over the background with memento lulu lavender. I then stamped the inkognitio butterfly with Distress ink wilted violet and when dry I overstamped the large butterfly with memento grape jelly. I printed the Happy Mother's Day using Craft artist and mounted both onto purple shimmery paper and then onto the 5x7 card.

Purpley Flowers

This card is one of those cards that looks so simple but took me hours to do.

Well technically it didn't take me hours to make it, just hours to decide what to do. I stamped the flowers and leaves from Altnew Henna Elements and stuck it onto a circle piece of card I had cut out of a background I had made. Why is it when you never have the right background paper that you want. I wanted to add a background paper to it but could not find the right one. I finally decided not to bother and added a pearlised piece of purple paper to the side and decided to leave the back white.

Anniversary Card

I made this card for one of my mums friends Wedding Anniversary.

I used the Avocado Arts Forever Yours Stamp set for the champagne glasses and heart, with the sentiment from woodware stamp. I stamped them onto pearlised card and matted onto pearlised red card.

Experimentation

I have been experimenting with Brushos and mica powders. I mixed some colours of Brushos up in a small spray bottle along with mica powders. I was surprised how shimmery this turned out. you can't see it in the photo but you can see the shimmer in real life.

Once dry I ran it through an embossing folder. I stamped some flowers from the henna elements (love this set) and die cut a hummingbird.

70th Birthday!

I have made this card for my Aunties 70th Birthday.

I used Altnew Henna Elements stamp set for the flowers and leaves. I  coloured them in using promarkers (I forgot to check which colours). I then matted and layered some white card onto purple and stuck this down on a blank card. I then printed the sentiment using Craft Artist and also matted and layed onto purple card and onto the card. I am quite pleased with how this card turned out.

Crackle Paint

I was Ali Reeve making a crackle paint on Thursday on Create and Craft using Corn Flour and Chalk Paint. She has also made it with Gesso. I loved the crackle effect but don't have any chalk paint or gesso so decided to see if I could get the same effect using paints I did have. I tried Acrylic and Emulsion.

This is the Acrylic and as you can see whilst it cracked it was only slight. If you want a slight one this is good.

This one is done with Emulsion and provided a great crackle effect. Will definitely be using again.

Dog Mirror

I am normally a card crafter but have recently become interested in altered art/mix media/making stuff whatever you would like to call it. I went to my first craft show in September and found some lovely wooden dogs from Button-it Buttons. They did however come with holes in so I emailed them and the lovely lady said they could do them without holes in if I wished. I put in my order and they arrived super quick.
I don't normally plan projects but I had this one in my mind as to what I would like to do with the dogs. I bought some mirrors from ikea which had large outer edge/frame on them. I also purchased some wooden bones and planned on putting these on to it but decided against it once I had finished the dogs.

The top picture is the blank dog. I then put two coats of black emulsion onto each side and then proceeded to glitter it. I used a black holographic glitter. I did four dogs and each dog was glued onto the mirror in the four corners.
The finished mirror.

I am quite pleased with the finished article and hope you like it too.
